Trattoria Milanese, Milan

A trattoria is an Italian style eating place, less formal than a Ristorante, very primitive/simple menus and with wine normally served in carrafs or half bottles, or glasses. Food is normally served family style and tables are shared with other people you do now know from adam.

I decided on trying out Trattoria Milanese based on the reseached I did and the good reviews it had. Located in the commercial are of Milan, on a very narrow street, it's quite a popular location. We got there at around 7:30 PM (quire early for Italian standards) and obviously the place was not full. We were 2 and they seated us in a table for 4, sharing with 2 other people. As soon as we left thou around 9:15 Pm, the places was packed.

For appetizers, I decied to order Carciofini all Olio (Artichokes with Oilve Oil). The artichokes were pickled, with a coating of Olive oil, a little salt and Pepper. Very simple dish but fantastic crunchy artichokes with Olive Oil.

For second, although I did not want to eat so much, I had to order the Rissotto a La Milanese e Osso Buco. A very typical dish from Milan, Braised Veal Shank and Rissotto enhanced with Saffron Threads. With this I had a more then generous glass of D.O.C. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Villa Medoro.

For Dessert, Baby Strawberries with Orange Juice, a very refreshing and light dessert.

Over all a very simple but great meal, Italian Style. Have tried other Restaurants and Milan which I will blog about very soon....

Looks fantastic, especially the artichokes (the canned stuff we get here is always too mushy and the rare times restaurants have fresh ones, they are over cooked) and baby strawberries.

Funny that they served you French wine...what was it?

Anjou Villages, cabernet auvignon and cabernet franc. Château de Pierre-Bise's winemaker is Claude Papin, very highly respected, who clings closely to creating vins de terroir.

last few days our class held a similar discussion on this subject and you illustrate something we haven't covered yet, appreciate that.

I have the same opinion with most of your points, but a few need to be discussed further, I will hold a small discussion with my partners and perhaps I will look for you some opinion shortly.
