Sala Bistro, Greenbelt

Had a quick light lunch the other day in Sala Bistro. It was my first time there and was excited to try the food. The location of the restaurant is great and the interiors simple but elegant. Before we ordered they served us a basket of fresh bread with butter.

For starters, I had a Grilled Squid, Crispy Chorizo, Roast Tomato and Cannelini Bean Salad. At first I thought that the combination wouldn't go well but the chorizo did it. Great combination of textures and subtle taste. Pity that the grilled squid was over cooked therefore very rubbery...

For main course I had an open sandwich: Roast Beef Sandwich with leaves, tomato, Cucumber, Mustard and Horseradish sour cream on Sourdough bread. whew that was long...

Great combination. I loved the Horseradish sour cream. The cucumber was thinly sliced and the sourdough bread was a good partner to this dish. I would have wanted more slices of Roast Beef, but portions were quite generous already.

Nice place to have a quick and light lunch. Now I want to try the SALA fine dining soon...

Don't tell me you had lunch here right before Lolodad's. That's abuso already!

If you want to try out Sala, they have Italian white truffles this week.

So, did you get your tartare last night?

hmmm YES I admit...I'm guilty....hehehe..light lunch lang anyway...

Did not get my tartare...Texted the chef several times and he never replied to me.I guess he was too busy.

Then I called and they told me that it was not going to be possible because the chef was going to be in Lolo Dads Brasserie that night...oh well..

Hmmm...that doesn't bode well for Lolodad's. The least a chef can do is respond. I haven't been to their bistro, but a friend who has said they have a cheaper menu and corkage is P750 per bottle there, so, unless they change, I do not intend to even try them out.

You take fantastic photos! And thanks for the recommendation of the Sony E. phone. I wonder if it will make me cry out in despair again since I can't seem to learn how to operate non- Nokia phones fast enough.

Thanks :)

Ya it might make you despair If you are used to Nokia its hard to move to SE.

That squid and chorizo salad was the first thing I tried at Sala Bistro the first time I ate there too. Nice and not too filling :) Paired it with the Colombelle white wine they ahve on the menu and it went perfect.

Cheers- nice meeting ya the other night!!! Hope you can pass by Martinis one of these days dude!

I'm not sure they had the Colombelle...what I did see what the Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc which I think would go well with that salad too.
